Qui sommes nous

Who are we?

Ambos is a key player in electricity storage. It contributes to the energy transition by enabling an increase in the share of renewable energy in the energy mix, offering a « flexibility » solution to bridge the gap between renewable energy production peaks and electricity consumption peaks.

As true tools for preventing grid saturation, energy storage infrastructures have become essential accelerators for the energy transition.

Ambos also positions itself as a partner for local authorities, farmers, and industries, working closely with them to find the most relevant solutions for optimal value sharing.

OUR SOLUTIONS

We develop and operate storage assets designed to serve as flexibility assets on behalf of grid operators or aggregators.
En permettant un meilleur équilibre du réseau et un ajustement de l’offre By enabling better grid balance and adjusting supply to match electricity demand, these assets become essential tools for the integration of renewable energies into the grid. They contribute to energy independence and reduce the need for fossil fuels during consumption peaks.

Leveraging its network of partners (co-developers, grid management experts), Ambos specializes in high-capacity projects (from 100 MW) known as ‘stand-alone’ BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems), which serve as powerful flexibility tools. We exclusively develop isolated projects, located near connection points (private or public substations, and under high-voltage lines at the exit of power plants).

We are the preferred partner for:
• Developers seeking funding support to bring their projects to completion.
• Local authorities, farmers, and industries near an RTE substation looking to capitalize on underused or unused land.

Reduction of infrastructure needs and costs for the end user
Batteries store excess energy and release it during demand peaks, reducing the strain on electrical grids and the investments required for their reinforcement.

THE FOUNDERS

Olivier Carré, CEO - Co-founder
Entrepreneur and developer in renewable energy for 17 years, Olivier founded his first company dedicated to solar energy, Méthode Carré, a design office, while he was still an engineering student. He is one of the co-founders of IPP Amarenco, which raised a total of €550 million in funding while Olivier was a Board member and CEO of Amarenco France. At Amarenco, Olivier also created and led the Storage department in France. He notably oversaw the commissioning in 2023 of the largest energy storage project in continental Europe (100 MW, 1-hour duration, near Bordeaux). Olivier left Amarenco in 2024 to create Ambos Energy and focus exclusively on the development of BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) projects.

Thomas Guillaume, CFO – Co-founder
With over 10 years of experience in investment banking, Thomas has advised mid- and large-cap companies, as well as investment funds, on several dozen transactions. A specialist in infrastructure and energy transition, he has participated in most of the major structuring operations involving sales, acquisitions, or financing in France and Europe over recent years. Thomas left Lazard in early 2025 to focus exclusively on the development and financing of Ambos and its BESS projects.

About the France 2030 Plan
• A dual ambition: Transform key sectors of our economy (health, energy, automotive, aerospace, and space) sustainably through technological innovation, and position France not only as a player, but as a leader in the world of tomorrow. From fundamental research and the emergence of an idea to the production of a new product or service, France 2030 supports the entire innovation lifecycle, up to its industrialization.
• Is unprecedented in its scope: €54 billion will be invested to enable our companies, universities, and research organizations to fully succeed in their transitions within these strategic sectors. The goal is to allow them to respond competitively to the ecological challenges and the global attractiveness of the future, while fostering the emergence of future leaders in our sectors of excellence. France 2030 is defined by two cross-cutting objectives: dedicating 50% of its spending to the decarbonization of the economy, and 50% to emerging players driving innovation, with no spending that harms the environment (in line with the « Do No Significant Harm » principle).
• Is implemented collectively: Designed and deployed in consultation with economic, academic, local, and European stakeholders to determine its strategic directions and key actions. Project leaders are invited to submit their proposals through open, rigorous, and selective procedures to benefit from state support.
• Is managed by the General Secretariat for Investment (SGI) on behalf of the Prime Minister and implemented by the Agency for Ecological Transition (ADEME), the National Research Agency (ANR), Bpifrance, and the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (CDC).
